Acquisition & Joint Venture partner searches

In addition to the commercial due diligence element of a potential transaction, we can also help clients compile a list of potential acquisition targets or JV partners. In reverse, we can help companies attract new investors if they want to achieve change of ownership or, if they are disposing a division, we can assist in identifying potential strategic partners.

 

 

The key stages in this are normally:

Screening

  • Determine the criteria which characterise an attractive target, e.g. size, location, customers, technology etc
  • Rank these criteria in terms of importance
  • Search for companies which meet as many criteria as possible

Eliminate or retain

  • Score each company against the criteria, eliminating those which fail to meet key criteria
  • Provide the client with a list of companies which best meet their criteria

Detailed assessment

  • And then, depending on the client’s wishes, move onto the due diligence process which involves detailed company analysis

 

How do we find companies to screen?

  • This is the labour-intensive stage! We use our extensive automotive experience, our own proprietary information on suppliers and industry databases & directories to produce a list of target companies.
  • We then research these companies, to select the best companies: we look for information to keep a company on the target list, or for information which allows us to reject a company as unsuitable.
